About Industrial Metallurgists, LLC
Industrial Metallurgists, LLC provides materials engineering training and consulting to help clients develop and manufacture successful products.  We help clients optimize materials to make products that meet performance, reliability, and cost requirements.  More information about Industrial Metallurgists, LLC is available at www.imetllc.com

Principal
Michael Pfeifer, Ph.D., P.E. is the President of Industrial Metallurgists, LLC.  Michael has 19 years experience working as a materials engineer on all facets of product design, development, and manufacturing.  He has a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University and is a Professional Engineer, Licensed in Illinois.  All training courses were developed by Michael.

Prior to Industrial Metallurgists, LLC Michael worked for Motorola for 12 years as a manufacturing engineer in an integrated circuit factory and as a design engineer for automotive electronics.  In these roles he learned about statistical process control (SPC, now commonly referred to as six sigma), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), design for manufacturing, and product reliability testing.  He applied this knowledge and his materials engineering background to improve product performance and reliability, improve manufacturing yields, reduce cycle time, perform root cause failure analysis, develop new manufacturing processes, evaluate and develop suppliers, and reduce costs.  Michael has experience working with mechanical and electrical design engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, purchasing agents, and suppliers.

Michael is the author of Materials Enabled Designs: A Materials Engineering Perspective to Design and Manufacturing.
He is also chair of ASM International's Technical Books Committee.
